Pogba Doping Case: Prosecutors Seek 4-Year Ban for Juventus Player

Pogba Doping Case: Prosecutors Seek 4-Year Ban for Juventus Player.

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba faces the threat of a four-year ban from football, with the investigation into his failed drugs test now complete.

The Russia 2018 World Cup-winner initially posted a positive test following a Serie A meeting with Udinese back on August 20. Elevated levels of testosterone were found in his system at that stage, while a B sample also came back positive in October.

Goal reports that the Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s Office has been looking into the case since then, with said procedural process running its course. It is understood that a request has been made for Pogba to be hit with a four-year suspension.

Pogba was immediately banned from all football activity once the result of his initial test came back, preventing him from playing any further part in Juve’s 2023-24 campaign. He has been working on a personal fitness programme, but it remains to be seen when he will be cleared to make a competitive return.

The 30-year-old, along with his lawyers, must now decide what action to take next. It is possible that a plea bargain will be sought, which could result in a reduced sentence, while Juve have big decisions to make on a contract that is due to run until the summer of 2026.
